The Future - As Of November 2011

- At the moment 'Willa', directed by Christopher Birk and based on the story by Stephen King, is in post-production. The film is expected to be released in early 2012. The short film 'Alone' was completed in October 2011 and is now being sent to various festivals.

- In production is 'Helicopters' - a new play written by Joe Thristino. At the moment we are looking for space for a reading for an audience and space to produce the play in its entirety. Planned production on the play is April 2012.

- Christopher Birk, director of 'Willa', will in late 2011 complete a new screenplay, so far titled 'The Right Death', a story of two has-been actors and their difficult lives after having alienated everyone around them. This story will hopefully spend some time in PR in 2012 and the hopes are that the movie can start shooting in August 2012.

- An untitled horror script is also in the works but not yet completed. An original story about an elderly woman running a guest house where she makes her own twisted fantasies come to life. It's in very early stages but we aim to produce and film it in 2013.

What's In The Future?

With 'Willa' all over the place, what's next for Alpha Tree Productions?   Well a few things are going on. As mentioned before there has already been a few readings of Joe Thristino's new play HELICOPTERS. We have now found a potential director and are having new meetings. Hopefully, soon enough, there will be a staged reading of the play announced. This will be a completely free event where everyone can join. We want to make sure we get as much input as we can before we start a full production of the play.
But what else? Christopher Birk, director of 'Willa' is working on a new screenplay. Exactly what will happen with it, only time will tell but as soon as something is happening you will certainly hear about it.
'Willa' is still in post production and will be for a while. But as soon as possible there will be a version ready to submit to festivals and there will also be screening(s) arranged when it's ready. So stay tuned for that.
In the meantime the short film 'Alone' is just about to be released, here online. Getting th music done for the film took a little longer than expected but hopefully it's worth the wait and now it is almost where it should be and ready for relese so you'll get to see it soon.

This Week!

Yesterday was a very inspiring day. I had meetings with a few people about WILLA, our upcoming readings and production in general.
This week has been dedicated to the launch of WILLA, the short story by Stephen King.
"David goes to find his fiancee, Willa. She has left him at a train station with a group of stranded passengers. He finds her at a local honky-tonk of a club and in his attempt to bring her back he learns the horrible truth about why they cannot stay at the station".
This story had a great impact on me when I first read it and it continues to do so when I read it again and again. The screenplay is already ready in its first draft and dates are near for first meetings, fundraising, castings etc. So keep watching. Lots of new WILLA information coming soon as is even more projects about to unforl, in just a few days.

First Weeks of Events!

First week of our official existence has passed. And what a great week it was. Exciting news very soon about our upcoming productions. We have dates for our first two readings, and have found everyone we need for the readings. Hopefully these readings will be very successful - we'll have more and we'll soon enough start production of the plays in full.
But what else? Composer Igor Stankovic has joined us from Macedonia. Director and producer Rosser Goodman - director of the successful movie HOLDING TREVOR - has joined us from Hollywood. Director Mattson Tomlin has joined us. Mattson is in post production with SOLOMON GRUNDY, a movie produced by Henry Fernaine, executive producer of REVOLUTIONARY ROAD. Mattson is also in pre production with his new film DREAM LOVER.
Producer Blu de Golyer joined us from Santa Monica. He is CEO of HOW TO MAKE A MOVIE and in pre production with HOUSE OF GOOD AND EVIL starring Tippi Hedren, Rachel Miner and Christian Oliver.
Also, we are now affiliated with PETITE PALACE CREATIONS in Copenhagen, Denmark, KGB Films in Los Angeles and ALLIANCE ENTERTAINMENT in Florida.
So this was our first week. I'm pretty excited about our second week and our first month! How about you?

Carlos Valle

Director/Writer Carlos Valle joined forces with us today. Here is his Director's Reel:

NOW HIRING!

So - we want to expand! Just in case I haven't already given you that impression. And we want to 'hire' creative people.
We are looking for all you people out there with skills in the arts. Skills that are useful in the production of film and theatre, not to mention the pre- and post production of these things.
We cannot offer money! At least not yet. But we know there are many people out there with skills who want stuff on their resumes and want to be involved in cool projects that will teach everyone a lot and hopefully lead somewhere.
So let's hear from you if you wanna be part of this journey! Whatever time you wanna spend is completely up to you. A lot of the work takes place through computerse so even if you're not living in New York City or even in the US we'd love to have you. So be you interested in producing, directing, acting, composing, lighting, sound etc etc etc - give us a shout. All we ask is that you have a little experience within your field and then we will affiliate you with us, adding you to our soon-to-be-released database of people, helping you get out there, while you help us grow some more so we can be noticed! Sound good? I think it does. alphatreeproductions@gmail.com

The Growth Of ALPHA TREE PRODUCTIONS

Meeting between Roberta Iara and myself today to discuss our approach to the baby-company and how to best serve it and everyone we hopefully will be associated with very soon. Ecpect loads and loads of updates, new links, people, dates, pictures etc over the next couple of days. We are, at the moment, considering ourselves to be a very productive, creative, tolerant, helpful and organised virus about to infect the WWW! Stay tuned!

Working For Free!

I'm sure lots of actors and directors are familiar with these terms! So so should we be. We are newly started and what better way to get out there than to do some good old fashioned work. We can edit, score movies, make behind-the-scenes features or other interesting 'post' or 'pre' production jobs on your small projects, student films or short films. All we want is our logo in your project! Contact us to find out how. Examples of some of the scores we do are on our PureVolume profile!

Upcoming Theatre Productions/Readings

About two months ago I posted an add on Craigslist looking for talented playwrights out there to collaborate with. My hope was that a few would send me their stories and I would be inspired to help put together 'teams' to do readings of these plays.
I got about 100 mails in the first 5 days. AMAZING! Though I'm sorry that I got too many to read everything and respond to everything, I did get in touch with a few and we are now gathering actors and directors to do individual readings of these plays.
The first play, SAVE ME, by Alberto Ignacio Alvarado will hopefully see a reading soon. For now, all we need for that is a suitable director. The actors are already found. I'll keep you posted on the progress of this reading.
Another reading we're working on putting together is HELICOPTERS, by Joe Thristino. Also, we're trying to find a suitable director for this and we are one actress short. This will also come together in the near future and I'll keep you posted on that one too.

Popsy

Oh, a little ps to the last post. What got me started on this whole thing is Mattson Tomlin, director of 'Solomon Grundy' who bought the rights to 'Popsy' - another Stephen King short. Here's the first scene from that film:

Stephen King's BOOGEYMAN

First production from ALPHA TREE PRODUCTIONS is (hopefully) soon on the way. I've always had a weird, morbid fascination with BOOGEYMAN, the short story from Stephen King. This story is one of his 'one dollar babies' - short stories where you can buy the rights for just 1 dollar. Though the movie was actually just done last year as a short by an Irish man named Gerard Lough, I figured that shouldn't stop me from doing a - probably - very different version and here in the US. Before I started researching I didn't know it had already been done. Oh, and just to straighten that one out too, the movie 'Boogeyman' from 2005, and the following two sequels has nothing to do with Stephen King's story. This is just a mainstream Hollywood horror film.
I'll keep you posted on the progress of the rights and if we are or are not going forward with the production of this film. If not, have no fear - there are lots of his one dollar babies out there and I'm determined to start off ALPHA TREE PRODUCTIONS with a wonderful Stephen King short film.

If you should be interested in the Gerard Lough's film, the trailer for his version is right here:
